If you like coffee, you’ll love these bars. These Cinnamon Coffee Bars have a wonderful coffee flavor that comes from using actual brewed coffee. The flavor is not too strong, but delightfully warm. Cinnamon adds a touch of spice to make a great bar cookie.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup hot coffee
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350.
- In a small bowl, blend flour and other dry ingredients together.
- Thoroughly mix shortening, sugar, and egg.
- Stir in coffee.
- Slowly blend in flour mixture, mixing thoroughly.
- Stir in raisins and nuts.
- Spread dough into a greased and lightly floured 13″x9″ pan.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes.
- Cut into 3″x1 1/2″ bars.
- Frost while still warm using half of the Basic Cream Icing recipe.
