Sugar Cookie Dough – Version 2

I recently featured a Sugar Cookie dough that was made using confectioners’ sugar. Now I’d like to share a Sugar Cookie dough that is made with granulated sugar instead. The result is a traditional sugar cookie that will delight everyone!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cups shortening
  • 1 cup sugar (granulated)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, blend together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a large bowl, thoroughly mix shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Blend until smooth.
  3. Slowly blend in flour mixture.
  4. Chill dough for at least one hour.
  5. Heat oven to 400.
  6. Roll dough to approximately 1/8″ thick on a lightly floured surface.
  7. Cut dough with cookie cutter.
  8. Place cookie onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bak 6 to 8 minutes, or until lightly golden.

Makes approximately 4 dozen cookies, depending on cutters used.
