I recently featured a Sugar Cookie dough that was made using confectioners’ sugar. Now I’d like to share a Sugar Cookie dough that is made with granulated sugar instead. The result is a traditional sugar cookie that will delight everyone!
Ingredients
- 3/4 cups shortening
- 1 cup sugar (granulated)
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
Instructions
- In a small bowl, blend together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, thoroughly mix shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Blend until smooth.
- Slowly blend in flour mixture.
- Chill dough for at least one hour.
- Heat oven to 400.
- Roll dough to approximately 1/8″ thick on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut dough with cookie cutter.
- Place cookie onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bak 6 to 8 minutes, or until lightly golden.
Makes approximately 4 dozen cookies, depending on cutters used.
